2024-2025 A2L Refrigerant
The Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency are continuing their phase-out of R410a Refrigerant and are mandating the use of A2L refrigerants in all new air conditioning systems.
This will mean that NEW Air Conditioning systems will be rolling out soon. It will also mean that anyone who buys refrigerant or these new systems MUST be A2L certified. A universal license will not cover this new refrigerant.
We are currently working on solutions and asking the questions you want to know such as backward compatibility, thread rotations, line set replacement, and more. We are also attempting to help our contractors out with their refrigerant licensure. Stay tuned.
Once the A2L units become standard, it will be the policy of Escatawpa Wholesale Supply, LLC not to sell or even quote any A2L equipment to any individual or company whose A2L certification is not on file with us. There will be No Exceptions.
2023 DOE SEER Transistion
The DOE requirements for January 1, 2023 is that all systems sold or installed be a minimum of 15 SEER or 14.3 SEER2 rating. This means that we will have new model numbers and new system matchups that are AHRI approved. There can be some very stiff penalties for selling or installing units on or after January 1st that are not in compliance with these new regulations.
What Does That Mean?
Simply put, we can expect the prices of units to go up significantly. They will still be R410a units, but the air handlers will have a new 9 Speed ECM motor and TXV installed.
In order to prepare for this very hard deadline, we will transition to the new equipment as soon as it is readily available. So, if you still want a 14 SEER system, you will need to get in touch with us as soon as possible before our supply runs out and we transition to the new units.
